right now its reformatting into a RAID, boss wanted to RAID it. lost 2 frames no biggie. here's what i got before that
[22:05:44] pleted 2500 out of 250000 steps (1%)
[22:54:37] Completed 5000 out of 250000 steps (2%)
so thats about 50 mins per frame. i was thinking maybe that was due to the clock speed being 2.26 or the HT. the old 3ghz MP does a frame in the low to mid 40s
wont get to test until tomorrow
I run this:./fah6 -bigadv -smp 16 -localwhich works all 16 cores/threads, check activity monitor to see how many cores are running, there should be 16 total. The first time I started it there were only 4 running so I shut it down and restarted with the -smp 16 in it and that did the trick.
I don't want to be ignorant, but I thought that HT was all about utilising the unused portions of each core. But if you're running F@H shouldn't those cores be fully utilised anyway? 2.26 to 2.66 shouldn't make that big of a difference and I didn't know you could even turn HT off, even if you wanted to.

OMG....I would NEVER take information as fact from an "ATT customer service agent". I have received so much wrong info or even been dare I say lied to, I would never trust what a random ATT rep said.
Not to mention, the service reps are so far down the chain of command, they would not have info on when the next iphone is being released.

A. Not knowing what the ****** they're talking about.
B. Making something up to get you off the phone.
One of the many reasons I will never again give AT&T a dime of my money.

I've got a 2.5 yr old MacBook that is feeling stretched with Aperture. I've been thinking that an iMac / iPad combination would be a good replacement.
Anyone with experience in getting iPads to work with iMacs (specifically remote access)?
I did this for about an entire semester before I bought a MacBook air to join the club. I go to school and its hard to be without a laptop, I'm not sure if your situation is similar. However, vnc viewer for ipad works so well with remote access. Its perfect if you don't need the actual computer, rather the files on there.

From the screenshots alone, it looks like a Cocoa app, which pretty much guarantees it'll be faster because it won't have the extra Qt bloated code in it ;)

Regardless of the relative difference in overhead, I'd expect it to be negligible in both cases. This is just the gui that sits around the virtual machine, a nice window dressing to make it accessible to the user. It should only be exercised when you're doing stuff like editing configurations or attaching devices. The real meat of either VMware or Parallels should have nothing to do with what gui toolkit they use to display the window.
It's exciting to see this finally moving along. I really think virtualization will play a much larger role in everyday computing in the future. Forget backwards compatibility nightmares, just virtualize it. I'm already hogging way too much disk space on my Macbook with a few Parallels VMs that I use on a regular basis. Whenever Apple releases an affordable desktop Mac that can take more than 4 GB of memory, I might check out VMware at that time and see if it's any better.

I wish I knew more about the fate of the white 4... I got a white 3G the day they came out, so you can imagine how frustrating it's been to have waited so long for the white 4 while able to upgrade anytime. Now we're just focused on the 5.
If the white 4 is gone, I will have waited months and months for a phone that won't be here. Then I won't be able to wait that long for the 5 to come because life with this 3G sucks (and I'm sick of paying the same 100 bucks a month for a slow old phone), so I'll get the black 4. Then I'll be way behind in upgrade ability when the 5 comes out.
K I'm done complaining. Carry on.

Actually contract / No contract does not really make a difference here since I need service anyway.
I have had every model of iPhone since they where released in 2007..... The only one I did not sell with a profit was the original iPhone where no contract discount pricing was available.....
Every other model made money at resale.
Might get this, might not. Don't do contracts so it would be a simple case of buying and selling. Something most people I know do. You lot (Americans) should start doing the same and stop being beholden to 24 month contracts.

Many get garbage 3G speeds on AT&T in many areas anyway, so what's the point of having a 4G iPhone that GSM provider (insert AT&T) in the US can't even support on a mass basis?
